Eclectic Chic, 101

"Eclectic Chic"…what does that mean? The word "eclectic" is used in interior design to describe a room that does not match. The furniture and accessories may come from different genres. The pieces and accessories do not look like they were purchased to go together. They look as if they have been gathered or collected over time. But somehow, everything comes together to create a finished look. In some rooms it is as if the pieces tell a story…a very unique and personal glimpse of the owner.

Fall into color...

Wouldn't you like this look for your living room? The Bernhardt sofa and blue patterned accent bench work so well with the blue walls and accent pieces in this living room. The blues contrast with the gorgeous hard wood floors for a finished designer look. The color blue, particularly Olympian Blue, is showing up everywhere in interior design for fall. It exudes a cool, calm serenity that reminds us of the water.

It may be an heirloom piece that has been in the family for generations and has a lot of sentimental value, but these older cribs do not meet today's safety standards. Are you ready for some football?

This room certainly looks ready for some football with ideal seating for game watching. The Palliser Tijuana Home Theater Seating is just one of several home theater units on display in our showroom. One of the first signs of fall is not the crisp, cool weather but the start of the football season. Even before the temperatures dip…the games begin. We go from backyard BBQs to inviting people into our house and our living rooms for fantasy football drafts and football parties.

Blue is everywhere. Even the White House has a blue room. There are so many shades of blue and it's such a beautiful, beloved color. It is cool, patriotic, nautical, soothing, serene, classic, sad, even happy. It represents wisdom, trust and loyalty. After the 911 attacks in the United States, blue became immediately popular as the country united and pulled together.
